Iridescent Sensors Inc.
OUR MISSION: Seeing smells to save lives.
Our Optoelectronic Nose will protect first responders and save lives from chemical spills and industrial fires by rapidly detecting toxic chemicals.
WHY: The Problem and Why It Matters
More than 25,000 reported chemical spills annually, double from 8 years ago; $6.8B annual economic cost − US DOT.
There are 1.7 M U.S. first-responders & 20 M more worldwide who need protection from exposure to toxic vapors and chemicals.
Current technology to detect toxic gases are
too expensive,
too insensitive,
too slow or cumbersome,
or not sufficiently specific.
First Responders are generally without an effective sensor device for ready use in the field.
HOW: Our Solution, The Optoelectronic Nose
Our Optoelectronic Nose can protect against toxic gases with minimal training,
easily and accurately!
Fingerprints toxic gases in seconds quantitatively.
Extraordinary accuracy.
Requires no calibration.
Sensitive at both toxic levels and even below
Permissible Exposure Levels.
We probe chemical reactivity, not physical properties, with an array of
chemically responsive dyes: a digital, multidimensional extension of pH paper!
Robotically printed, disposable sensor array.
The change in the colors is a unique pattern: a Molecular Fingerprint.
Machine learning (AI) recognizes the pattern and identifies the toxic gases,
all in a handheld device the size of a cell phone.
